PRN/OCC, Day shift, opportunity to be part of the on-call overnight team.
Position Summary: Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures, measuring cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices. The technologist assists in all phases of catheterization procedure including insertion of the catheter, operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of hemodynamic data.
The Invasive Cardiovascular Department consists of 3 dedicated Cardiac Cath rooms, an Endovascular Suite, and a Dedicated Electrophysiology room. We have a 6 bed holding area, however most patients recover in patient rooms or in ambulatory staging. Our staff consists of RNs, Cardiovascular Techs, Transporters, and a Health Unit Coordinator. Our staff assignments are either two RNs and one CV Tech or two CV Techs and one RN. We provide a comprehensive quality care approach for individuals requiring cardiovascular procedures. Circulate and possibly scrub on cases. Assist physicians on cases and transport patients as needed.
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years experience performing invasive cardiac catheterization procedures.
Licensure Requirement: Must hold current registration as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), NASPExAM AP/EP, or ARRT -- preferably with a Cardiovascular-Interventional Technology (CV) category designation. Current ACLS certification. Annual training in infection control, fire, safety and CPR, lifting, and sterile technique.
