Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center (PNRC) is an Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital within Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center (FSRMC). PNRC is a 73 bed unit composed of a 26 bed Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord injury unit, a 22 semi-private bed Stroke, Orthopedic and Neuro unit, and a therapeutic one bedroom apartment. PNRC is the largest inpatient rehabilitation center in the area and cares for patients from pediatrics through geriatrics. PNRC provides rehabilitation care to patients through general medical-surgical care, wound care, tracheostomy care, and restorative functional education. We work as a full interdisciplinary team with the physiatrist, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapist, recreational therapist, behavior medicine and case management. We also have full access to all specialty physicians located within FSRMC. This is a fast paced environment with an average patient-nurse ratio of 7:1. Nursing support personnel include patient care assistants, health unit coordinators and licensed practical nurses.
PNRC offers RNs a well-rounded orientation varying from 8 weeks to 14 weeks depending on experience. Orientation includes both classroom and clinical learning opportunities. New graduates are enrolled into Covenant Health’s Nurse Residency Program to support the new nurse during the first 12 months. In addition, we support furthering education through initial certification (Rehabilitation, Neuroscience, Medical-Surgical, etc.), through annual certification bonuses and offering financial support through the PNRC Brett Fund and Covenant Health’s Tuition Reimbursement Program.
Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience: Must possess at least one (1) year of professional nursing experience.
Licensure Requirement: Valid Tennessee RN license. Fire/security, infection control, and CPR inservices are required.
